We're hiring! Firmware/System/Electronics Engineer Intern/Part-time/Full-time

Job Description PASCALL Systems, Inc. is an early-stage medical device startup developing novel technology spun off from research labs at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). We are seeking a dynamic and innovative engineer to join our hardware team to develop, test and maintain the hardware, firmware, and software for a next generation wearable brain monitoring system that will be used in patient care. This role will mainly focus on the validation and testing segment of the product development cycle.

*Responsibilities 

  • Perform functional testing of medical device electronics and firmware. 

  • Analyze signals using Python scripts. 

  • Build firmware using Git commands. 

  • Document test results and any product defects following an ISO 13485 quality management system. 

  • Maintain lab test equipment and calibration records. 

  • Perform stock scanning on electronics parts and components. 

  • Report progress in semi-weekly team meetings.

The candidate should have strong verbal and written communication skills that will enable her or him to work effectively with other team members.


Qualifications Minimum Requirements

  • [Full-time] Must have bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related fields

  • [Intern/Part-time] Your experience should be in the following:

  • Hands on experience with lab test equipment including oscilloscopes, signal generators, multimeters, and soldering irons.  

  • Proficient in prototyping electronics and setting up test circuits on breadboards. 

  • Skilled in Python and C programming. 

  • Knowledgeable of medical instrumentation for bio-signal acquisition. 

  • Demonstrated experience in technical report writing. 

*Good-to-have:

  • Microprocessor development, micro-architecture, microprocessors, and computer system architecture

  • Low-level software programming skills in assembly and/or C

  • Software debug skills

  • Standard software engineering practices and programming development tools

  • Programming languages: Python, C/C++

  • Hardware/Software interfaces, interactions, and debugging tools

  • Experience with biomedical instrumentation or devices

*Preferred (please still apply if you are new and desire to acquire these experience)

  • Validation and/or testing

  • Platform architecture and operating system knowledge

  • Experience developing a medical device

  • Experience working under a certified Quality Management System by the FDA (FDA QSR) or ISO 13485

  • Experience using Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) and git. 

  • Knowledgeable of ISO 13485:2016 standard.
